Xanthe's First Anniversary

Xanthe, our ever loved and missed beautiful little daughter.

Winter 07/08

Wishing everyone a peaceful New Year.  Thank you for reading Xanthe's dedication website.

The Petition

Total signatures so far: 602 (as of 7th December)

Thank you to everyone who has signed and to those of you have got, or are getting, others to sign.  We are pleased with the amount of signatures we currently have and we know that more people are currently collecting signatures.

Telling people about Xanthe's stillbirth is easier but still hard; I suppose we have grown to expect less.  Possibly one of the hardest comments to hear was when someone known to us said flippantly, coldy, walking off "oh well life goes on" after I had told her about Xanthe's stillbirth".  No, life does not go on for my daughter.  It is though a hard thing for people to react to: people do not generally mean to be cruel or clumsy or awkward, it is often hard for people to know how to react to another's trauma and loss.  So we expect less from others now and we do not always tell people because it does not help us.  But we carry Xanthe with us in our thoughts and we talk of her within our close-knit family and we miss her and we love her.

October 2007

Welcome, to the website dedicated to our daughter, Xanthe Pheby.  Thank you for taking time to look at this website.

.

We received more information in September concerning Xanthe's stillbirth and the umbilical cord: It was not quite coiled as normal. Often babies are fine when the cord is under or over coiled, so it is not a cause, but there is some association between stillbirth and umbilical cords being hyper or hypo coiled. Although it is not understood why this affects some babies and not others (currently this is another obstetric mystery).  Sadly we are aware of many parents whose babies were stillborn or die shortly after birth due to identified cord problems, so much more needs to be understood and researched within this field also.
